Wonderful Vintage Gold Leather Edwardian Shoes, Cut Steel and Gold Bead Decoration

Material:  Gold Gilt Leather

Size: apx 6 - 6 & 1/2

Measurements:  Inside, toe to heel ~ 9 &  7/8 inches,  Width ~ 2 &  7/8 inches,  Heel ~ 2 inches
Quantity:  1 pair

A very pretty pair of ladies vintage beaded gold lame gilt leather Edwardian shoes, c. 1908 - 1916.

They are decorated at toe with fine gold and cut steel beads, in a heart shaped pattern. Lining is white kid leather and a linen type fabric.

Heel is Cuban style.
Both shoes are marked ~ Knight’s ~ on the bottom, which was a store located in Portland, Oregon.
They are not marked as to size, so I compared to similar styles with marked sizing and estimate these to be apx. a  6, possibly slightly larger.
Please keep in mind however, that although the size does appear to be approximately as indicated, we are not exactly sure how marked size information compares to our modern sizes, so please review measurements above for additional details.

The shoes are in fair overall condition.  I would rate as very good except for some weakness to leather at shoe front, above beading.  Originally there was a matching bow stitched directly onto the shoe at this position, but the bows are no longer present and the shoes now show a little cracking/weakness here.  If the shoes are going to be worn I would recommend having this small, apx. one inch area, reinforced.
They have been previously worn, but not excessively.  Soles and heel guards appear quite good. Some marks and light soiling to white interiors, but this can be cleaned.  The right shoe is missing one steel bead and both are missing a few of the gold ones.  With the exception of the somewhat fragile area mentioned above, the rest of the leather feels and looks quite good, with a nice overall rich gold finish and minimal scuffs.
These shoes are really pretty and would certainly complete an outfit or Edwardian display.
We also have another, matching pair of these shoes, except they are a slightly smaller size and they still retain the bows.  We wonder if perhaps two sisters purchased the same party shoe, one being slightly younger and wearing a smaller size.  Who knows?  If you are interested in the matching pair please see our other listings.

Finding good condition vintage shoes, in sizes wearable today, is rather difficult, so we were very pleased to purchase a small collection of size 6, 7, 8 and 9 Victorian, Edwardian and 1920's foot wear, listed separately, here on our web site.
