A lovely lavender and peach color combination accentuates the attractive period tunic design of this 1920 - 1930 garment.  Fine hemstitching detail accents the yoke, arms and hem, which is further embellished with appealing side slits.

Constructed of pure glossy silk, which we believe to be Crepe de Chine or similar luxurious lingerie weight, the tunic has wonderful drape, falling gracefully from gathers at the square neckline.   We are please to say that this nice vintage garment is a very wearable size!  See details above.

Additionally, it is in exceptionally nice estate condition.  Meticulous examination revealed no snags, rips, tears, stains, spots, specks, fading or other problems.  We see no evidence of fabric distress, thinning, weakness or deterioration.  It could use a steam or gentle press.  Please note; The tunic photographs were taken in bright sunlight, so the color appears a little muted and slightly more purple than actual.

Straight silhouettes, similar to this tunic design, were popular in all types of Flapper era clothing, including lingerie, negligees, dresses and party gowns to name a few, so determining the exact nature of this particular piece is a little tricky.
The fairly large armhole openings lead us to believe that originally the tunic may have been been worn over a sheath dress,as we have had several similar tunic dress combinations in the past, however we believe it was possibly intended as lounge or night wear for home and boudoir, probably coupled with a pair of wide legged pants.

Today this tunic could be easily worn in a multitude of ways.  paired with  pants, dress or skirt for either day or formal wear, as well as coupled with tap or lounge pants for boudoir or lounge wear.
NOTE:  We feel fortunate that this tunic is truly a wearable size and it is actually a little big for our dress form shown in the photographs, however please remember that while the measurements listed above may sound quite large, this type of garment was intended to fit rather loosely, allowing the silky fabric to drape softly around the body.
