This fine antique baby christening gown, c. 1900-10, features delicate lace and embroidery, with copious amounts of pintucking, whitework and Broderie Anglaise lace.

Beautiful scalloped lace and fine embroidery accents the neck, sleeves and bodice.  Rows and rows of pintucks decorate the yoke, skirt and even the sleeves, which is not commonly seen.  Beautiful whitework, with drawnwork is inset in the bodice and across the top of the shoulders.  Broderie Anglaise adorns the whole lower portion of gown.
It is very nice antique estate condition.  It does need two new ribbon ties added to upper back for closure however, as originals are missing, but a couple of ties and a few stitches easily resolves.  Tiny linen covered button still present.  Also, there is a very small, apx. 1 inch area, of one pin tuck row that requires a few stitches to re-tuck.  There is so much pin tucking that this is really difficult to discern.  Slightly more significant, however are several very tiny holes in the cotton lawn, located near the side seam, about mid body. Due to location this is not really notable, but could easily be  mended or darned if desired, however with a slip or petticoat underneath, it would be extremely difficult to detect.  Please see my close up below, last image.
Minor cosmetic issues notwithstanding we consider this lovely old gown to be in overall nice condition commensurate with age, however we have adjusted our price to accommodate aforementioned.
Please note that the lower skirt is an amazing 88 inches in circumference, the entire lower twelve inches of which is embellished with whitework, drawnwork, pintucks and Broderie Anglais lace.   This antique gown is very well made and sturdy, with a lot of hand stitching and handwork.  Truly quite an amazing little work of art.
This fine old heirloom baby christening or blessing gown is freshly laundered, clean, pressed, perfectly white and free of stains.
