Quantity: 1 = 1 pair stockings
A very fine pair of antique, turn of the century Victorian or early Edwardian stockings,
dating to apx. c. 1900.
They have never been used, retain original paper tag and remain attached together.
They are a lovely pinky mauve color, adorned with excellent hand embroidered decoration
beginning just a couple of inches from the toe, indication these stockings would
likely have been worn with formal court and/or fancy dress shoes. (First image is
a little darker than actual - middle image is best color representation)
A very fine seam runs from the toe, across the bottom of the foot and up the back
of the leg to top welting. Lower welt features the key hole opening commonly found
on stockings that utilize corset garters.
These are new old stock good quality, very
soft and finely woven cotton hosiery, probably lisle. They have never been worn,
or washed and are in exceptionally nice antique estate condition. We see no runs,
snags, rips, tears and no wear or distress to fabric. The embroidery appears to
be perfect, completely intact. One stocking appears to be a slight bit longer than
the other, probably from being the outside stocking and folded over the other. Very
close inspection revealed a few very pale, diffused discolorations and three pin
head size specks to the top welting of one stocking. To minor/light/small to show
in an image.
An exceptionally nice condition, good quality, authentic period pair of antique stockings.
Quite rare to find new old stock antique hosiery with original tags. Perfect for
a stocking, corset or lingerie collector.
