Rich, elegant fawn colored velvet covers this original 1920's ~ 1930's millinery
hat display stand, with old silver foil paper under base and top.
It is in very nice vintage estate condition, with just very light wear to velvet
edges at top and base, a little surface dust and some light impressions to velvet
as can be seen in image. Foil at base shows old sticker reside and a few tears,
but remains quite securely in place. A very sturdy and well made mercantile millinery
display, I believe velvet over wood. It is used, but has been well cared for.
The stand appears slightly crooked in the picture, but this is due to camera angle;
the hat stand is perfectly straight and sits flat, with no wobbles.
Also, due to bright sunlight the color is somewhat darker than shown in the picture.
The color is the exact shade of soft fawn, just slightly darker and richer looking
that image depicts.
While the 1950's quilted plastic covered versions of these stands are quite readily
available, the older, Flapper era velvet examples are becoming harder to find.
They look really attractive in a vintage display, are wonderful decorator pieces,
and make nice gifts. They are also a charming accessory for milady's boudoir or
vanity. Designers often adorn these period examples with antique or vintage millinery
flowers, lace, ribbon, beads, jewelry, etc.
We are presently listing a matching pink velvet period millinery store display stand
that can be found on page four of our Vanity & Boudoir Items category.
