Faber Bros. sold very high quality jeweled wares under the Silvercraft name, from 1923 - 1932, so we can infinitively date this particular ormolu jewel casket to this early period.

This fine example features extensive gilded filigree art metalwork, on a heavily textured ground, that I believe is called rotted acid, patterned after older bronze caskets.   Top and side panels are decorated with fourteen attractive bezel set gems in jewel tones of ruby red, demantoid garnet green, pink tourmaline and sapphire blue.  Four filigree decorated round ball feet underneath.  Interior is lined in rich blue velvet.

The dresser box is in very nice vintage estate condition, with no breaks, cracks, or other structural concerns.  The hinge works correctly and box closes snugly, with perfect alignment.  The small amount of verdigris that may be visible in first image (I did not notice until after taking pictures) was subsequently easily and appropriately removed with a small amount of white vinegar.  Overall finish is a nice, rich, dark ormolu gold color, with very minimal wear, mainly to polished edges of lid.  (see first image)  Interior velvet lining remains snug and intact, with slight smell of powder and some light colored marks, likely from same.  The 14 rhinestone jewels are all present and each appears to be original.  Two have small scratches and several have gilding residue, but I find no chips, cracks, or breaks.   Overall an exceptionally nice 80 plus year old Flapper, Art Deco era boudoir collectible.

A few years ago I came across an entire matching Silver Craft set that included this exact jewelry ~ vanity box, plus nine other coordinating pieces, including a large tray, powder jar, brush, comb, mirror, atomizer, clock and two picture frames.  I still have the picture of the set and will include it with the jeweled casket, to possibly aid in collecting other matching pieces.

Only a few early manufacturers including, Apollo, Art Metal Works, Empire Art and Silvercraft produced these wonderful jeweled vanity items and boudoir accessories, with Silvercraft being generally accepted as one of the highest quality producers of the era.
