This Art Deco Richard Hudnut dual compact is decorated with fine glossy black and
gold cloisonné enamel, c. 1920's. Original gold gilt fitted box and powder puff
are present.
The compact has a unique tri-fold design, containing both powder and rouge, with
self framed mirror in the rouge lid.
It is in very nice vintage estate condition. The compact has been used but still
retains some powder and most of the rouge. The mirror does have some light cloudiness.
Puff appears to original and has been well used, but may clean up with a soak.
Hinges and clasp operate well, compact closed very securely. Black cloisonné enamel
remains quite glossy and nice, with some wear to the gold dot decoration. Slight
wear to gilded finish on compact back.
The gold gilt box is also in overall very good condition. Interior silk lining is
nice, with just one tiny smudge speck. Lid remains attached with minor scuffs to
paper at back. There are some edge scuffs/bumps but box is structurally sound. Some
verdigris to metallic gilt finish. Paper labels to box front and bottom remain intact,
although bottom label has some scuffs.
A very nice, collectable early Hudnut Art Deco compact, complete with original box.
