This vintage, c. 1940-50 gold purse box is jeweled with 60 sparkling rhinestones.

I have seem similar containers that were compacts and it is possible that this is a loose powder box, however I wonder if it was intended as a carryall container for cigarettes and money, etc.

It is in nice vintage estate condition, seemingly retaining all the original rhinestones.  The hinge operates very well.  Interior is clean, with some minor scratching.  The clasp functions well and snaps securely closed.  There are some scratches to exterior case and one very tiny ding to one end panel.  For some reason the scratches appear more pronounced in the images.   The rhinestones all appear to be original and sparkle nicely, although this was hard to capture in ours images.  The stones had a tendency to appear dark in our pictures, when they are actually quite white and bright.
