A very nice vintage ribbon work vanity or dressing table box, c. 1910 - 20's.
The box is made from glass panels surrounded by pink silk satin ribbons, accented
with ribbon work rosettes. I'm not sure how this was assembled, but the ribbons
appear to be sew together, holding the glass very firmly.
This vanity or dresser box is quite large and I believe it would likely have been
used for gloves, hankies, jewelry, etc.
It is in very nice vintage estate condition, with no chips, cracks or breaks to the
glass panels. The ribbon work is also very nice, seemingly secure and tight around
the glass, with no play or looseness. There is some light soiling to the ribbon
here and there, especially at the bottom, but nothing glaring or even unexpected
for an older vanity boudoir item such as this. See close up. Since the ribbons
seem to be sew together it seems possible that the whole box could be gently soaked
in water with a mild soap to brighten if buyer deems necessary.
Really a lovely and charming vintage ribbon work vanity item.
