Two rows of completely different styles of superior Venetian drawn work accent the
center linen on this fine, large, white, square antique tablecloth, c. 1880 - 1900.
The handmade Battenburg lace on this table cloth is made from very thin, fine tape
and the finest, thinnest thread. To find this high quality of Battenburg is really
quite rare; this was definitely an extremely talented lace maker.
The cob web fine
lace measures 6 inches deep on sides, increasing to 8 inches at corners. The lace
is hand stitched to linen.
The tablecloth is in extremely nice overall condition, with no noted tears or holes
to linen, just one tiny pin head size speck. The brides in this lace consist of
a single, cob web fine thread and a number have separated, but for the most part
it appears the threads have just pulled loose and could be reattached, if desired.
These are small areas, nothing glaring or extremely noticeable, but there are several
on each side, so please be aware that the lace may require some attention in order
to be perfect. We noted one small very pale, light yellowish area, on edge of lace.
This fine, large hand made Victorian era tablecloth is fresh, clean, and pressed.
