A very nice vintage Society Silk Work tea cloth, tray - table mat or large centerpiece,
c. 1900 - 1920.
This lovely white tray cover is lavishly embroidered with silk satin stitch in muted
shades of palest gold, silver and blue in a floral and foliage design. Edges are
scalloped and also accented with satin stitch.
The tray cover is in nice condition and free of stains, however it is not perfect.
There is a pulled stitch here or there in the embroidery, as well as some slight
wear to stitching at edge and a few tiny, pencil point size areas of wear to fabric.
Nothing glaring, or even unexpected for an older, loved and used embroidered textile,
but is acknowledged and reflected in our price.
The soft embroidered colors in this tray cover are somewhat unusual, as quite often
bright colors were used, so if you enjoy muted shades and can overlook some small
signs of loving use, this vintage textile is crisp, clean and ready to grace your
table.
