A matching pair of unused antique, very fine linen, white fancy continental show
pillow shams or cases, c. 1910-20.
The pillowcases are decorated with white satin stitched eyelet cutwork and satin
stitch embroidery depicting a rather unusual Bluebell floral motif, with a very fancy
border.
The backs open up for pillow insertion and close with 3 old fabric covered buttons,
which are present.
The shams are in very nice, unused condition. They did however have some storage
related darkening along fold lines, as well as a few specks, so I washed and pressed
them for the very first time. With the exception of two tiny residual marks (see
my last image) that may resolve with a soak, the cases are now clean and white.
A
very nice pair of high quality, fine, never used antique cases.
