Size: Diameter ~ 7 inches, Height ~ 1 & 1/8 inches
Quantity: 1
A very interesting old sterling silver Francis I hollowware item, # X 567, manufactured
by Reed and Barton, c. 1951.
Due to the straight, undecorated, vertical sides of the bowl we believe this to be
a wine or champagne coaster. Diameter of bowl base, where bottle would sit/rest,
is apx. 3 & 1/4 to 3 & 3/8 inches, tapering just slightly to a top opening of apx.
4 inches.
A thorough web search did not realize any identical pieces, however we did find other
X567 numbered pieces of different design. This leads us to believe that manufacture
of this particular coaster was not extensive, and likely discontinued many years
ago.
The coaster is quite heavy and substantial; weight is a considerable 5.47 troy ounces.
It
has never been monogrammed
It is in excellent condition. We see no dings or dents, just some light scratches
to bowl bottom.
A very nice and hard to find, older mid-century production, sterling Francis 1 wine
coaster.
