Material: 14 Karat Yellow Gold & Baroque Pearl
Size: Length ~ 1 & 3/8 inches, Width ~ ½ inches
Quantity: 1 = one pair
A very nice pair of unique vintage handmade baroque pearl earrings, set in 14 karat
yellow gold, c. 1960, possibly earlier. They are hallmarked in two places on each
clip back, along with a signature that I am unable to decipher.
Although I did not
have the appropriate earring display piece, the first image shows apx. the position
of the earrings when clipped on the ear lobe. Clip is attached behind center pearl,
so forward pearl curves slightly towards the face and back pearl curves slightly
up around ear. This is a really attractive and flattering design.
The pearls are white, with brilliant iridescent pink, purple, blue, and green undertones.
Unfortunately this does not show well our images. Each hand prong set apx. 10 mm
pearl is whole, not sliced or backed.
Mounting is open on the reverse, so pearl backs
are easy to see.
The setting appears to be a custom, original handmade design, in a free form style
designed to curve up, following the natural shape of the ear, with nice, comfortable
14K clip backs.
The earrings are in very good estate condition. 14K gold setting is well made and
securely holds the pearls, which have great luster and sheen. The unique design
was well executed by the goldsmith. They way they fit close to and curve with the
natural shape of the ear is quite striking and attractive. The clip backs operate
well and are comfortable, allowing the earrings to be worn by both pierced and non-pierced
individuals, however a jeweler could easily convert to post, or even drop, if desired
for pierced ears.
A very nice quality, unique hand made pair of vintage 14k gold pearl earrings.
