Material: Faceted crystal
Size: Length ~ 42 inches, end to end, Beads ~ Graduated
7mm to 12mm
Quantity: 1 strand
A rare find...very long old, c. 1920’s clear rock crystal necklace, hand knotted
faceted cubes, graduating in size from 7 mm to an amazing 12 mm. There are 93 sparkly
beads in all. (counted twice!)
They appear to be strung on some type of very clean white cord, or heavy string,
closed with an old spring ring clasp. Since there is a clasp, this necklace can
be worn long or wrapped several times around the neck, to achieve various looks.
The necklace is in extremely nice condition. I examined the beads several times
with a magnifying glass and only found a few minute flea bites which were not visible
without magnification. The faceted beads reflect the light and sparkle well, but
this was hard to capture with the camera. The cording appears to be very strong
and is really clean and white. The findings are definitely older, so either the
necklace was seldom worn, or possibly re-stung at some point. The spring ring could
probably stand to be replaced, but it is adequate and functional.
Due to the high quality of the beads we believe they are likely Austrian or Czechoslovakian.
This shape of bead is rather hard to find, and an entire old 42 inch graduated necklace
quite rare.
